Iran said its forces shelled and destroyed the headquarters of Iranian rebels on Iraqi soil, killing 40 “mercenaries” and wounding 50, but the Moujahedeen rebels called Tehran’s claim a fabrication. The Voice of the Islamic Republic of Iran radio said the rebels’ headquarters “was 100% smashed” and that trucks and buildings were set afire. But the rebels replied, “By resorting to such fabricated stories, the Khomeini regime pursues no aim other than to try to conceal its absolute impotence. . . . “
