NBA Stars to Play at Bren Center for Charity

Byron Scott of the Lakers will lead a group of National Basketball Assn. players into the Bren Center on the campus of UC Irvine tonight for an all-star game as part of the Jim Slemons, Byron Scott Charity Classic.
Scott and Laker teammates Magic Johnson, Michael Cooper and A.C. Green are expected to play in the game, which will start at 7:30.
Dominique Wilkins and Kevin Willis of the Atlanta Hawks, Tom Chambers and Alton Lister of the Seattle SuperSonics, Reggie Theus and LaSalle Thompson of the Sacramento Kings and Lafayette Lever of the Denver Nuggets also are expected to play.
In conjunction with the game, a round-robin celebrity tennis tournament will be held Saturday at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Tennis Club from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will feature Alan Thicke of “Growing Pains,” Mike Warren of “Hill Street Blues” and Conrad Bain of “Mr. President.”
All money raised by the basketball game and the tennis tournament will be donated to Camp Ronald McDonald and the South Orange County Community Clinic.
Tickets for the basketball game are $25 and $15 and can be purchased at the Bren Center box office (856-5000) or Ticketron locations.
Tickets for the tennis tournament are $10 and can be purchased at the door. Children under 12 get in free.
