218,100 Enlist, Exceeding Military’s 9-Month Goal

WASHINGTON — The nation’s armed services exceeded their overall recruitment goal for the first nine months of fiscal 1987, the Pentagon announced Thursday. The Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps enlisted 218,100 men and women during the nine months ending in June. Their combined goal had been 216,900.
