Two Women Die in Ramona Accident
Two women were killed Thursday when their car careened off California 78 in Ramona and rolled down an 800-foot embankment, authorities reported.
The women’s car was westbound at 2:30 p.m. on a winding stretch of the highway about one mile west of Weekend Villa Road when the driver lost control, California Highway Patrol spokesman Jim Logan said.
The driver was ejected from the car as it went off the road; the passenger was found in the car with her seat belt on, according to Logan.
Both women were pronounced dead at the scene, a San Diego County coroner’s spokesman said. They were not named pending notification of their families.
