Observations on the Iran-Contra Congressional Hearings
First the President couldn’t recall what he knew, or when he knew or if he knew. Then the national security adviser couldn’t recall details on 184 occasions, according to his testimony. That’s incredible, equal to one lapse of memory for every 10 minutes of testimony. Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese III takes the cake. I’m surprised that he “recalled” to show up for the hearings.
Webster defines amnesia as a “loss of memory due usually to brain injury, shock, fatigue, repression or illness.”
So pick your particular malady, President Reagan, Mr. Poindexter and Mr. Meese. Which one was it, or can’t you recall?
