Bravo to Activists Who Opposed Spadra
Bravo to all environmental activists who succeeded in forcing the county Sanitation Districts to cancel the Spadra waste-to-energy plant.
Years ago, the regulatory agencies decided to make the San Gabriel Valley the Valley of the Dumps. Now they’ve decided the valley would be a super location for trash burners. But people are sick and tired of having pollution-generating plants, with just a “little bit” of health risk, foisted on them. So down went the Lancer, Irwindale, Azusa and Spadra projects.
I hope the message gets through and the Sanitation Districts won’t be back with the two plants proposed for the Puente Hills dump or, for that matter, anywhere else. Isn’t it time for our elected officials to seriously consider mandatory recycling laws?
