Kerr-McGee’s net income soared 857%in the second quarter to $27.3 million. The Oklahoma City-based company said improvements resulted primarily from higher exploration and production operating profit and the sale of uranium hexafluoride under a renegotiated contract. Operating profit was helped by higher crude oil prices, increased natural gas sales and lower operating costs. Refining and marketing operating profit was lower. Revenue increased 16%.
