Simi Man Held After Bookmaking Raid
A Simi Valley man was arrested Saturday in a raid on the headquarters of a bookmaking operation, police said.
Steven Weinstein, 34, was arrested on suspicion of bookmaking during a raid at 2750 Carlmont Place, said Simi Valley Police Sgt. Bob Gardner. Bookmaking records and $45,000 were found in the Simi Valley home, Gardner said.
The raid was conducted simultaneously with raids on four other homes in the Los Angeles area, Gardner said.
Police said the other homes, whose locations were not disclosed, were subsidiary sites for the main bookmaking operation.
