Mitterrand in Spain to Visit Injured Son

GERONA, Spain — French President Francois Mitterrand and his wife, Danielle, flew to northeastern Spain on Tuesday to visit their son Gilbert and two granddaughters, who were injured in a car crash.
Gilbert Mitterrand, 38, and his daughters Pascale, 9, and Justine, 6, were severely injured in Tuesday’s head-on collision, which killed the Spanish driver of the other car, a local government spokesman said. The accident happened on rain-soaked roads near the town of Parlava.
