It’s doubtful Turner’s greeting was heard outside the country, however. Israeli overseas radio broadcasts went off the air Tuesday for the first time for 12 years because of a strike by journalists demanding pay equal to that of reporters at privately-owned newspapers. The 24-hour-strike halted programs in all 17 languages in which state-owned Kol Israel (Voice of Israel) transmits abroad daily, the officials said.
