Bank of America said Vice Chairman Frank Newman returned to Japan to continue talks with financial institutions on the bank’s efforts to overcome its financial troubles. On a trip last month, Newman asked Japanese institutions to purchase $350 million worth of stock and bonds to help BankAmerica, which suffered a loss of more than $6 billion in loans to developing nations.
