A commercial fishing boat discovered a large body of albacore tuna Monday, about 200 miles due west of Point Conception, according to the National Marine Fisheries Service.
The migrating albacore were found in 60-degree water, moving toward the California coast. The fish were found by commercial fishermen aboard a boat chartered by the American Fisherman’s Research Foundation, a commercial fishing organization.
Crewmen caught 26 albacore, ranging in size from 12 to 20 pounds.
