Pendulum Stops, but Earth Keeps Revolving

LONDON — After swinging for more than 60 years, the Science Museum’s pendulum that assured visitors that Earth was rotating has stopped.
The hollow brass ball filled with 30 pounds of lead shot on the end of a 79-foot length of piano wire was taken down last week to make way for new elevators. A new one will be installed later.
