Legislation to prohibit state tax deductions for business expenses at private clubs that discriminate was narrowly approved by the Assembly Ways and Means Committee. A 12-10 vote sent the bill, sponsored by Assemblywoman Gwen Moore (D-Los Angeles), to the Assembly floor. The yes votes were cast by Democrats; the no votes were cast by Republicans.
