Three pilot whale calves saved from beaching off Cape Cod in December were trucked about two blocks from the New England Aquarium to a ship in Boston Harbor for a trip to join other whales at sea. If the endeavor is successful, it will be the first time more than one whale was released after being saved from beaching. Officials said they tentatively decided to free the young whales, named Notch, Baby and Big Brute, near a pod--or group--of whales off Chatham this morning in the hope the group will adopt them.
