Giant Mosquitoes Put the Bite on Britons

LONDON — Swarms of giant mosquitoes, thriving in unseasonally warm spring weather and current summer rainstorms, are plaguing southeastern areas of Britain, experts at London’s Natural History Museum said Tuesday.
The insects do not carry disease but pack a nasty bite, experts said.
They said the mosquitoes, normally restricted in Britain to remote river and woodland areas, were growing larger than usual and moving from their normal habitat to gardens and homes.
