Faria Is Winner of Handicap Main

Mike Faria of Colton won the four-lap scratch handicap main event in front of 3,108 spectators at the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program at the Orange County Fairgrounds at Costa Mesa.

Faria, who also won the main events at Ascot and San Bernardino this week, was a wire-to-wire winner. Robert Fetzing of Colton was second, Dub Ferrell of Whittier third and Jim Sisemore of Woodland fourth.

Jimmy O’Dell of Kansas won the eight-lap handicap main event for his first victory at Costa Mesa. Brad Oxley of San Clemente was second, Sisemore third and Andy Northrup of Ontario fourth.

For the first time this season, Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa didn’t advance to the final of either race.
