New York’s JVC Jazz Festival opens today at the newly renovated Carnegie Hall with a bursting-at-the-seams schedule of different New York venues. Featured musicians at the 10-day festival: Sarah Vaughan, Miles Davis, George Shearing, Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Charlie Watts and his 30-piece English jazz band, Ella Fitzgerald, Grover Washington Jr., Ray Charles and Spyro Gyra. The festival runs through June 28.
