2 CALIFORNIA SINGERS SHARE HONORS

Tenor Jorge Lopez-Yanez of Northridge and soprano Annalisa Winberg of Burlingame shared top honors at the 15th annual Loren L. Zachary Society Opera Awards National Auditions, completed at Ambassador Auditorium.
The two singers each won a round-trip flight to Europe for purposes of auditioning, plus $3,000 cash. Third Place (worth $3,000) went to soprano Judy Berry; fourth Place ($2,000) to soprano Rosa Vento, and fifth place ($1,550) to baritone John Hancock. All three singers are from New York.
Judges were Wolfgang Stoll, William Wiemhoff and Renny Martini.
