Jodi Iwafuchi allowed only two hits and squeezed in the winning run as El Camino Real High School advanced to its fifth consecutive City 4-A softball championship game with a 1-0 semifinal win over San Pedro Wednesday at South Gate Park.
Iwafuchi drove in the game’s only run in the fourth inning, her squeeze bunt scoring Stacy Trapp from third base. Iwafuchi (14-0) had a no-hitter through five innings, but Brenda Bryan’s single in the six inning ended the bid.
El Camino Real, the four-time defending 4-A champion and winner of its past 73 games, will meet Sylmar, a 10-5 winner over Banning, in the final.
Sylmar 10, Banning 5--Teri Klement drove in four runs, including a three-run home run, as the Spartans routed the Pilots at South Gate Park.
3-A Division: South Gate beat Westchester, 3-2, and Bell defeated Venice, 7-1, to advance to the championship game. Both divisions play for the championship next Wednesday at South Gate Park starting at 2:30 p.m.
