The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences wants one Academy Award winner from each of its 59 annual ceremonies to give back his or her Oscar--but only for a few weeks. Academy President Robert Wise said Tuesday that the golden statuettes will be displayed at the academy’s Beverly Hills headquarters as part of its 60th anniversary celebration. Volunteers from each year are now being sought, Wise said, adding that he had wanted to display 60 new Oscars until he learned that the academy doesn’t keep that many on hand. “We really only order them in quantity for awards night, and even then we don’t need 60,” an academy spokesman explained.
