Austria issued a warrant for the arrest and expulsion of Martin Bartesch, a self-confessed former Nazi guard at the Mauthausen concentration camp in 1943. An Interior Ministry spokesman said Bartesch, 60, born in Romania and stripped of his U.S. citizenship, entered Austria on Thursday on his still-valid U.S. passport. The ministry spokesman said Bartesch would be held pending proceedings to expel him. The U.S. Justice Department said it has evidence that Bartesch shot and killed a French Jewish prisoner at Mauthausen.
