Jury deliberations began after final prosecution and defense arguments were presented in the federal escape trial of convicted con man Ronald McIntosh and his prison girlfriend, convicted bank robber Samantha Lopez, whom he flew to freedom in a stolen helicopter after making his own escape. The pair were re-arrested 10 days after the dramatic escape, and defended their actions by saying that Lopez’s life was in danger from prison guards who considered her a troublemaker.
