Takahashi Wins Playoff to End Ozaki’s Streak

MITO, Japan — Katsunari Takahashi defeated Masashi Ozaki in a one-hole playoff Sunday to win the Japan Professional Golf Match Play Tournament and prevent Ozaki from winning a record third-straight tournament.
Takahashi, who birdied the extra hole, earned $71,500 for his 12th career victory and his third victory this year.
Ozaki, who parred the playoff hole, won $35,750. He had evened the match with a birdie on the 36th hole on the 6,728-yard, par-72 Mito Golf Club course, which is northeast of Tokyo.
