The closure of two banks in Minnesota, one in Texas and one in Montana brought the total of bank failures to 78 so far this year, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. said. Marlin National Bank of Marlin, Tex., had assets of $44.3 million; United Bank of Libby, Mont., had assets of $15.8 million; First National Bank of Elbow Lake in Elbow Lake, Minn., had assets of $17.5 million, and Todd County State Bank of Long Prairie, Minn., had assets of $14.3 million.
