PREVIN & THE PHIL
Previn definitely isn’t good enough for my money. I am canceling my 10-year-old season subscription to the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Bernheimer was much too kind. Concert-going used to be a mostly exciting time, especially with the passion and eloquence of Giulini.
In those days, there were long lines at the ticket counters and full houses inside and cheers and flowers were a regular thing. Nowadays, going to the Pavilion for an L.A. Philharmonic concert is hardly something to look forward to--a few good guest conductors and concerts notwithstanding.
Let’s face it, Ernest Fleischmann (L.A. Philharmonic Executive Director), a major blunder was made by signing Previn as music director of our orchestra.
