Strike Keeps Buses Off London Streets

LONDON — London was without its red double-decker buses Monday as nearly all of the capital’s 20,000 bus drivers and conductors staged a one-day strike over plans to offer routes to private operators.
About 3 million bus commuters had to travel through the city by subway, car, taxi, bicycle or on foot.
