Ticket sales for the Los Angeles Festival have surpassed $500,000 only 11 days after they went on sale, a spokesman said Thursday. The multi-discipline arts fest, a successor to the 1984 Olympic Arts Festival here, will be held Sept. 3-27 at a variety of locations throughout the city. Festival spokesman Rick Miramontez said the sales figure represents “about 20%” of the total number off seats available for the 37 events. The fastest-selling events thus far are the “Mahabharata” marathons and the Ingmar Bergman production of Strindberg’s “Miss Julie.” “The fact that (the Bergman production) is in Swedish doesn’t seem to be deterring many people,” Miramontez added.
