Gianni Luckey Ferraro, 31, son of Los Angeles City Councilman John Ferraro, has been charged with felony vehicular manslaughter and drunk driving in connection with an April 28 Hollywood accident in which a pedestrian was struck and later died of his injuries. Breath tests showed that Ferraro had blood alcohol readings of .25 and .23 as compared to the legal limit of .10. Killed was Walter C. Schaad, 69, of Hollywood, authorities said. Ferraro, an unemployed North Hollywood resident, is free on $2,500 bail pending his arraignment May 20, according to the district attorney’s office. “The councilman is saddened by the whole incident but he really has no comment. He loves his son dearly and will stand by him,” said Bill Gilson, press deputy for Councilman Ferraro.
