With reference to Louis Charpentier’s letter April 12: He can lease a car in Paris and several other French cities without paying any tax. It is a “buy and sell back” arrangement. I have dealt directly with the Renault company through its U.S. office on a number of occasions, and have never been disappointed or had any problems.
He can rent a car in Geneva and travel in France or elsewhere to his pleasure without paying any tax. The car can be dropped off in Paris and other major cities by paying a reasonable drop-off charge. I have found Kemwell to be the least expensive of the major car rental outfits.
I agree with him and with Jerry Hulse re the visa fee. I often wonder how I can be so in love with France, considering the infuriating actions of its government. Yet I go back every chance I get.
