Bedside Promise Wins at Hollywood Park
Bedside Promise, ridden by Rafael Meza, took the lead in mid-stretch and won by two lengths in the $80,250 Triple Bend Handicap Saturday at Hollywood Park.
In the co-featured $67,300 Spotlight Handicap for 3-year-olds, David’s Smile, ridden by John Cisneros, rallied through the stretch for a 1-length win.
In the Triple Bend, Bedside Promise covered seven furlongs on the main track in 1:21 and, as the 11-10 favorite, paid $4.40, $3 and $2.20. Zabaleta was second, 1 3/4 lengths ahead of Bolder Than Bold.
In the Spotlight, David’s Smile covered one mile the turf course in 1:35 1/5 and paid $14.40, $5.80 and $3.40. Chime Time finished second, 1 3/4 lengths in front of Persevered.
Wagering pools at Hollywood Park on Saturday’s Kentucky Derby saw winner Alysheba return $15.80, $7.60 and $6.00. Alysheba and runner-up Bet Twice returned $155.60 in the track’s $2 exacta.
