Frank Sinatra will have to pay tax on earnings from a Swedish concert later this year because he has performed in South Africa, the Swedish Finance Ministry said Wednesday. Tax bills for foreign entertainers are traditionally waived by Swedish authorities, but they refused a request made Wednesday for Sinatra’s exemption because he is on the United Nations blacklist of artists who have performed in South Africa, the ministry said. Neighboring Norway banned Sinatra from appearing at an open-air concert in Oslo earlier this year.
