Boaters who call the Harbor Patrol for non-emergencies will pay a $48 fee, and those renting guest slips at Dana Point and Newport harbors will pay increased rates under rules approved Tuesday by the county Board of Supervisors.
The fees, to take effect June 1, are expected to raise an extra $119,200 per year. Of that, $92,800 will come from increased guest rental fees and ending off-season discounts.
Currently, the county charges 30 cents per foot for a guest rental between May and September and 20 cents from October through April. The new rate will be 40 cents per foot year-round.
Also, the fee for filming movie and television scenes will be hiked from $300 a day to $500. That increase is expected to bring an extra $1,400 yearly to the county.
