Improved earnings by each of Los Angeles-based Pacific Lighting Corp.’s major lines of business, including a 23% increase by newly acquired, Thrifty Corp., produced an 11% rise in net income in the first quarter of 1987, the company reported. Most of the gain was contributed by lines of business other than the utility, a spokesman said. Pacific Lighting is a holding company whose biggest subsidiary is Southern California Gas Co., the nation’s largest gas utility.
