Tekelec Profits Fall 73%; Sales for Quarter Up 11%
Tekelec, citing sales that were slower than expected and higher costs for research and development, reported that its earnings fell 73% in the first quarter ended March 31 to $91,000, or 2 cents a share. The Calabasas-based maker of telecommunications-testing equipment, said sales in the quarter increased 11% to $3.6 million from a year earlier.
