Abdul-Jabbar Is 40--Jazz Out to Spoil Party
SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz will light the candles for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 40th birthday cake tonight, but they’d like to spoil the party by beating the Lakers for the third straight time here.
The Jazz has never won a season series from the Lakers, and that includes its stint in New Orleans. But this season, they are 2-2, and have held the Lakers to 39.3% shooting in Los Angeles’ two losses at the Salt Palace.
In both of those defeats, the Lakers were playing games for the second night in a row. This time, they will have had three days of rest.
