Sports Briefs : Trip for Track Team

Regina Caeli, an all-girls Catholic school in Compton, is sending its track team to compete Friday and Saturday in the 29th annual Pelican Relays at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. Members of the team, which finished fourth in the Southern Section 1-A Division last year, are Cynthia Bradley, Shenae Mills, Sheena Mills, Sharon Mills, Tonishia Sumner, Andrea Lee and Kim Lee. Doreen Collins of Long Beach has been chosen as one of five team members to represent the United States in the Pacific Championship Lawn Bowling games in New Guinea in October. Girl Wins Hot-Shot Test
Kris Waldorf, 12, of Downey, won the national Pepsi Hot-Shot basketball contest for girls ages 9-12. The student at South Middle School won the contest, which consists of shooting from different areas of the court in three one-minute rounds.
