Greek Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou said his government plans to take over most of the property of former King Constantine, estimated to be worth about $40 million. Papandreou, speaking at a ceremony in central Greece, said that property near Athens containing the graves of the ex-king’s family will be exempted from the takeover plan. Papandreou’s remarks came a day after the government approved a bill providing for the takeover of 325,000 acres of land held by the Greek Orthodox Church.
