Learning to Read by Comic Books

The wit and commentary of Jere Witter’s “Temptation of Comic Book,” (March 22) is a real job, as is the more profound concept that learning to love reading can really be stimulated with comic books as a jump start.
There is no doubt in my mind that motivating anyone to start reading is a truly wonderful accomplishment. Yet one must wonder what else the Legal Aid Society is motivating when an endless supply of items is provided to be “taken” (should this word be stolen) from their lobbies.
Hopefully a “Free Comic Books, One to a Customer” or some such sign has been installed also.
