A suspected drug dealer was killed and an undercover Long Beach police officer was wounded in a gun battle that erupted when officers served a search warrant at an apartment house in the 200 block of E. 52nd Street, Long Beach police said. Officer Torbin Beith reportedly underwent surgery at Long Beach Memorial Hospital for a shotgun wound in the arm and bullet fragments in the upper torso, neck, face and eyes. Neither the slain suspect nor a second suspect who was arrested was identified.
