State Health Director Kenneth W. Kizer ordered stores to remove from their shelves one lot of Stueve’s natural raw certified milk and cream after laboratory tests confirmed the products were contaminated with salmonella. The recall covers one day’s production and the products, which are manufactured by Alta-Dena Dairy, are coded MAR 31C. Kizer said the manufacturer has halted further distribution of the products and the removal notice was sent to all county health officers. A spokesman for Kizer said salmonella can cause diarrhea and fever and can be fatal to infants, the elderly and individuals in poor health.
