A chemical fire at a metal-processing plant that forced 14,000 people to leave their homes in and around Nanticoke, Pa., probably will produce no long-term health effects, a federal investigator said. “Based on what we know to date, given all the materials we’ve inventoried at the plant, we feel there is no need for concern for long-term health effects,” Charles Walters, an adviser with U.S. Public Health Service, said at a news conference.
