Beverly Hills-based American Medical International Inc. reported second-quarter profit of $28 million, compared to a net loss for the same period in fiscal 1986. Revenue for the period was a record $950 million, up $88 million. In the first half, the firm recorded a profit, compared to a loss, and revenue increased 13%. The turnaround was due to intensified efforts to manage costs, improve efficiency and promote operational excellence, a spokesman said.
