Bellflower : 5 Appointed to Renewal Panel
The City Council has made five appointments to a citizens committee that will advise councilmen on ways to boost development in Bellflower’s aging downtown area along Bellflower Boulevard.
The appointees are Dwight Nield, an electrician; Philip Hawkins, a Bellflower developer; Harold Chung, president of Webster Career College on Bellflower Boulevard; Robert Thomas, manager of Kinetic Data Corp. in Paramount; and Dave Humphries, a Bellflower real estate broker.
Chamber of Commerce Manager David Ryal and City Administrator Jack Simpson were selected as ex officio members. One member of the Planning Commission also will be appointed to the committee as an ex officio member on April 6, according to Planning Director Lee Whitenberg.
In the next few weeks, the city will choose a consultant to prepare a market survey of the area. The study will be reviewed by the committee, Whitenberg said.
