Orange County Prep Baseball : Klesko Gives Westminster a Tie
Ryan Klesko’s three-run home run in the sixth inning gave Westminster High School a 3-3 tie with host Huntington Beach in a Sunset League baseball game that was called after nine innings because of darkness.
Klesko, who went 4 for 4 with a triple and two singles, relieved pitcher John Gonzales in the sixth, striking out five and walking one in four innings. Gonzales had given up three runs on three hits and struck out two in five innings for Westminster (0-0-1 and 6-0-1).
Dominic Alvarez gave up three runs on seven hits and struck out six in nine innings for Huntington Beach (0-0-1, 6-2-1). Alvarez also went 2 for 4 with a double and a home run, and teammate Brian Mcleod hit a homer in the third.
In other Sunset League play:
Ocean View 10, Fountain Valley 2--Eric Christofferson went 4 for 4 with two home runs and seven RBIs to lead the Seahawks at Fountain Valley. Dan Naulty (2-1) allowed two hits and struck out 10 in seven innings for Ocean View (1-0, 4-3). Teammate John Beaubien hit a home run in the second inning. The Barons are 0-1 and 3-6.
