Gunmen attacked a car carrying a Bank of Tokyo general manager and his chauffeur in downtown Lima, Peru, wounding both men, police said. Tadeo Sawaki was reported in satisfactory condition with three gunshot wounds after three men armed with submachine guns opened fire on his car. The condition of his chauffeur was not known. No group claimed responsibility. However, suspected leftist guerrillas threw dynamite Friday at the Bank of Tokyo and two other Lima banks, injuring several people. Maoist Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) guerrillas reject all foreign influence in Peru.
