15-Car Crash on 163 Ties Up Evening Traffic
A 15-car chain-reaction crash snarled traffic on California 163 for two hours Monday evening and backed up cars for two miles, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The CHP reported that two people suffered minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital after the 6:30 p.m. collision.
The accident occurred in the northbound lanes near Interstate 8. The accident was particularly aggravating, the CHP said, becaused it occurred during the evening rush hour, a CHP dispatcher reported.
Details of the accident were sketchy but the dispatcher said that a brief shower about that time may have contributed to the crash.
