Former Champion Davila Takes On Geronimo in Bantamweight Bout

Albert Davila, former World Boxing Council bantamweight champion, fights Edel Geronimo tonight in the featured bout at the Irvine Marriott Hotel.
Geronimo (16-1) is the bantamweight champion (118 pounds) of the Philippines.
Davila (52-8) of Pomona won the title in 1983 when he knocked out Kiko Bejines. He won his only title defense before a back injury forced him to give up his title in 1984.
In other scheduled bouts, Rocky Cazares of Blythe fights Geraldo Nava of Anaheim (133 pounds), Richard DeMarco of Orange fights Rod Starks of Westminster (158), Tyronne Jones of Los Angeles fights Pepi Dominguez of Whittier (153), Hector Jaiman of San Diego fights Larry Musgrove of Los Angeles (164), and Frank Charles of Pasadena fights Collins Crews of Los Angeles (179).
The first fight is at 7:30, and 400 tickets go on sale at the hotel today.
