Comedian Murphy Settles Suit

MINEOLA, N.Y. — Comedian Eddie Murphy today reached a settlement with a former manager who went to court seeking about $30 million of the star’s earnings in a breach of contract suit.
The settlement was announced just before Murphy, who had spent two days on the witness stand, was to be cross-examined by the attorney for Irving (King) Broder, 64. Broder’s attorney, Herb Sachs, said the agreement included a stipulation that the terms would remain secret. “I still have a couple thousand dollars left,” Murphy joked.
