San Diego High School Baseball : Dickson Pitches No-Hitter in 10-1 Grossmont Victory
Lance Dickson of Grossmont High School pitched a no-hitter Friday in a 10-1 victory over Bonita Vista in a Sporting Goods West Tournament game at Bonita Vista.
Dickson struck out four in the first inning despite giving up a run. Teddy Ehrhardt, who scored for Bonita Vista (0-2), reached first when catcher Aaron Albert dropped a third strike. Ehrhardt stole second, reached third on a passed ball and scored on another dropped third strike.
In other tournament games:
Mar Vista 2, Kearny 2 (10 innings, darkness)--Mar Vista’s Eddie Vega singled in the seventh inning to tie the score at Kearny. Vega and teammate Johnny Amaya had two hits each for Mar Vista (1-0-1). Kearny was led by Scot Welish, who doubled twice and drove in a run.
Vista 5, Point Loma 4--Mark Mata singled in the winning run in the sixth for at Vista (1-0). Vista’s Jody Quintanar homered in the first.
CRAWFORD TOURNAMENT Mira Mesa 13, Morse 2--Third baseman Jim Souza drove in four runs and left fielder Mike Eicher scored three for Mira Mesa (3-0) at Morse (2-1). Mira Mesa designated hitter Travis Arnold drove in three runs with a single and a double. Art Maldonado (1-0) allowed only two hits in four innings. GMC TOURNAMENT Santana 5, Montgomery 0--Bill Reed pitched a two-hitter and drove in two runs with a single to lead Santana (3-0) at Montgomery (1-2).
GOODMAN-PIRATE TOURNAMENT San Pasqual 4, Fallbrook 1--Jim Clayton, Kevin Herde and Keith Nichols all had run-scoring singles in a three-run sixth-inning to lead San Pasqual (1-1) over Fallbrook (1-1) at San Pasqual. Clint Cruz (1-0) pitched the final two innings.
El Camino 8, Oceanside 6--Sid Riley pitched a complete game and added three hits for El Camino at MiraCosta College. Riley pitched a complete game despite allowing 16 hits, all singles. Kip Sosa and Henry Reich had three hits apiece for Oceanside.
Patrick Henry 6, Torrey Pines 6 (7 innings, darkness)--Tony McVicar and Lance Lowry hit two-run home runs to give Patrick Henry (1-0-1) a 6-4 lead in the top of the seventh, but Torrey Pines scored two runs in its half to tie the score.
